Fred Boyd

Through his efforts as co-chair of the Washoe County Education Foundation, Mr. Boyd has tirelessly promoted literacy among children. He was instrumental in raising over $600,000 for the Focus on Literacy Initiative helping disadvantaged elementary children read by 3rd grade. Mr. Boyd spends countless hours with school principals and community leaders supporting this effort and is a champion in spreading the word that we must help our youngsters learn to read. As Board member of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada (CFWN), he was instrumental in bringing key public and private K-16 educators together with CFWN Board members to develop an “Education Conversation” to inform funders of the most pressing needs of K-16 students and assist them in making charitable decisions.
