Raymond D. Rawson

Former State Senator Rawson served in the Nevada Legislature for nearly 20 years. Among his many roles as an elected leader, Sen. Rawson has been instrumental in shaping the state’s education policies, serving as Chair of the Senate Committee on Human Resources and Facilities. This committee oversaw many of the key legislative initiatives in education – both K-12 and higher education. He sponsored the class-size reduction initiative and led legislation to professionalize the teaching career. His leadership in education extends across the nation, as a nationally recognized expert in education and public health. Sen. Rawson has been a model for all who would serve as a legislative leader and public servant.
