Valerie P. Cooke

Federal Judge Valerie Cooke has, for many years, tirelessly contributed her time and effort to the betterment of students in Washoe County, especially students in at-risk schools.

Under her leadership, the Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association has provided career mentoring services to students at Hug High School. Judge Cooke also previously spearheaded a similar program at Traner Middle School. In addition, She was instrumental in the organization of a team of students at Hug High School who were coached and prepared to compete in the Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the Washoe County Bar Association. During the holiday season, Judge Cooke is instrumental in the adopt-a-family program, helping many area families to have a happier holiday season. Currently, Judge Cooke is helping to coordinate a teen moms mentoring program at Hug High School.
